ℹ Baby Blue Jean is a brand new variety of Russian sage with a long bloom period and a sturdy, compact form, only reaching about 2.5 feet tall and wide, with stems that won't flop over like other varieties! In midsummer, a cloud of lavender colored blooms will cover the sturdy upright stems, continuing to hold color through into fall. Butterflies, bees and hummingbirds will flock to your garden for a taste of Baby Blue Jean! Russian sage has a pleasant herbal fragrance, sporting lush fern like foliage throughout the season that deer tend to leave alone. Russian sage will thrive in the midsummer heat when many plants are struggling. Though the leaves of the Russian sage plant are slightly toxic and you should not eat them, the plant's flowers are edible and have a peppery flavor. You can use them for garnish or steep them in a tea that many claim eases digestive discomfort. While you can't east Russian sage leaves, you can dry them to make a fragrant potpourri. You can also dry complete stalks of the Russian sage plant for use in dried flower arrangements. For a highly durable, low maintenance and high impact plant choose Baby Blue Jean Russian Sage! Great in containers, mass planted, in borders or low hedges or even as a stand alone specimen!
