ℹ️ This unique and attractive form of Dogwood is native to Ukraine and other regions around the Black Sea. Forming a shrub or small tree, it is prized for its unique and tasty fruit and for its ornamental value. Our Ukrainian varieties produce unusually large, sweet, and flavorful fruit, which tastes like a Cherry or a wild Plum! As an ornamental, Cornelian Cherry produces profuse, very early blooming, delicate yellow flowers followed by bright red fruit which ripens in late August to early september and yellow and red fall color. Cornelian Cherry fruit is good for fresh eating, preserves, juice, and wine. Plant 2 varieties to increase pollination. Pioneer™ bears abundant crops of very large, pear-shaped fruit. Up to 1-1/2" long, the dark red, early ripening fruit is juicy, sweet, and aromatic.
